Wait in expectation

Psalm 5:2-3
Listen to my cry for help,
my King and my God,
for to you I pray.
In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait in expectation.

Living in The Power of Hope

Living in The Power of Hope
is the topic during service today
a timely message in my recent state of turmoil and distress
I am reminded to humble myself
and come to the One who brings comfort

Proverbs 3:34
God resists the proud
but gives grace to the humble

A lot of times, our distress is brought about by pride
trying to put on "God mode" when we try to handle things on our own
putting things on our shoulders and toughing it out, so to speak
when all we need to do is humble ourselves, surrender and bring it all to God.

When we lean on Him, we experience hope....

2 Corinthians 3:12
Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.

....And boldness brings freedom

humble=surrender=hope=boldness=freedom

Consoled by an Angel

a link from my sister angel:
He hears and He answers....for my sister angel

In my moment of despair and anguish
In the middle of the night
I cried out...

Psalm 77:1-2
I cried out to God for help;
I cried out to God to hear me.
When I was in distress,
I sought the Lord;
at night I stretched out untiring hands....

He reached out and extended His mighty hand
He cradled me through the comforting words of a dear friend
I was consoled by an angel
No halo over her head
No wings
No light shining over her
But what she radiates is an energy from inside
brought about by love and compassion
her empathy and companionship
provided stillness to my soul
restored through the eyes of hope
I was lifted and hopeful once again
in my moment of helplessness
I was gloriously helpless
consoled by an angel

Forgive me Lord
for despairing
forgetting in my moment of anguish
your words and your promise
Thank you Lord
that no matter what time of day or night
I can call on you and lean on you
Thank you for sending an angel friend
as an extension of your hand
providing comfort
in my time of distress

Psalm 94:19
When anxiety was great within me,
your consolation brought joy to my soul

Snuggle in God's arms.
When you are hurting,
when you feel lonely,
left out,
let Him cradle you,
comfort you,
reassure you of His all-sufficient power and love.
-Kay Arthur

On Reflection and Meditation

{On Reflection}

Follow effective action with quiet reflection.
From the quiet reflection will come even more effective action.
-Peter F. Drucker

my thoughts:
A quiet reflection with a thankful heart
recognizing that all that there is
and all that we are
is by His power and grace.

{On Meditation}

Holding the word of God in your heart
until it has affected every phase of your life...
... This is meditation.
-Andrew Murray

{On Faith...}

Little faith will bring your soul to heaven;
great faith will bring heaven to your soul.
-Unknown

Faith is to believe what you do not yet see;
the reward for this faith is to see what you believe.
-St. Augustine

Faith sees the Invisible,
believes the Incredible,
and receives the Impossible.

my thought:
Faith attaches itself to our plans
and we begin to fearlessly decide

{...And Anxiety}

Every tomorrow has two handles.
We can take hold of it with the handle of anxiety
or the handle of faith
-Henry Ward Beecher

The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith;
and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety.
-George Mueller

{...And Miracle}

For the truly faithful, no miracle is necessary.
For those who doubt, no miracle is sufficient.
-Nancy Gibbs

Faith does not, in the realist, spring from miracles,
but miracles from faith.
-Lloyd John Ogilvie

On the wings of prayer

On the wings of prayer
I soar to new heights
I am in communion with my Maker
and the cry of my soul
beholds joy beyond measure
my soul ascends
and I am cast away
on the wings of prayer

{On Change}

Out of difficulties grow miracles.
-Jean De La Bruyere

All change is a miracle to contemplate

Growth requires change, change brings forth growth

Backyard roller skating

"Thank you kuya Ian for skating with me." says Belle as she hugs Ian in gratitude for her brother's time and love. Thank you dear God for moments like this.

Week at a glance

  • week-end of 1/27 - we left for Union City on Friday to attend my niece's JJ's baby shower. It was a very busy weekend preparing things to take back to Pismo and organizing/decorating stuff at Ojai. Shopping for, and attended the baby shower on Saturday. Went to 9am service on Sunday and packed up the van for Pismo.

  • 1/31(Wed)-Ian stayed home sick. I used the day decorating and hanging artwork I brought from Ojai.

  • 2/1(Thu)-I went to 9:30 dance class. Then had lunch with Phil at Pierside Cafe. It was a very heartwarming mother and son bonding.

  • 2/2(Fri)-Cleaning day. I was expecting my bible study group. They planned to come and visit but unfortunately ate Lolit's husband got sick and they were worried to leave him alone.

  • 2/3(Sat)-Bubble bath with Belle. Phil took Belle to the park (3hrs!). Belle and I made tags for her valentine's day cards.

  • 2/4(Sun)-I went to 9am service then went grocery shopping and shopping for artwork for our mantel. Had lunch with the kids at Pierside Cafe and watched football with Phil (well sort of - I was decorating at the same time)

  • 2/5(Mon) - I went to the district offfice for a required TB skin test for volunteering at the school. I volunteered at Belle's school from 10-11. I ended up taking her with me as she was itching with hives.
